Postal history.Pre-philately. 1852. Letter from RIGA 8.5.1852, by London 15.5, to catch the Peninsular packet from Southampton to Porto. In London I paid the postage of 1/9, and in the port on arrival at 22.5, I paid the postage of 490 reis (for weights up to 4/8 of an ounce), plus 20 reis of Ley of 20/4, with blue mark (PRT-LEY 3), without indication of the value.
