Pre-philately. Letter from France, via Spain to Lisbon, arrived on May 11, 1853, with a postage of 600 reis applied, later cancelled because the recipient benefited from postage exemption. A 35 reis tax from Law 20.4 was also applied, which was also not collected. Uncollected Law stamps are very rare.
