Postal history. Sport amendments. Colonial Brazil. Letter written in Rio de Janeiro with the mark RIO DE JANEIRO RJN2 rar5, postage of 80 reis applied, destined for Penafiel. The letter went directly to Porto where it arrived on 5/05/1816 according to the handwritten date on the back, then continued to Penafiel, where the postage was paid. As the sender was in Lisbon, it was re-registered, with postage of 40 reis applied to pay for transport to Lisbon. In Lisbon, the postage was mistakenly amended from 40 to 80 reis, as it was considered a letter arriving from overseas. Very beautiful and rare.
