Mozambique Company. Airmail. 1932. Mixed franking of Southern Rhodesia stamps (1, 2 and 2/6) and local motifs 1925 (1$40 and 85 centavo stamps). This precursor to the Mozambique Company's airmail franking, made with Rhodesian stamps that were on sale in Beira, was intended to pay for rail transport to Salisbury, where the stamps were cancelled, dated 22.5.1932, before being sent by air to Europe. One of the oldest dates of the 6/7 known letters with mixed franking. Arrived in Hamburg on 6.6. Has an Imperial Airways vignette on the back. Very rare letter.
