Kofer Hayishev – Ring, Pin, and Receipt 1938 - 'Kofer Hayishev' - Redemption of the Community' - was a fund begun in 1938 to in-crease security in the wake of the Arab revolt. It was funded by voluntary taxes on vari-ous goods. Donation of gold jewelry was also encouraged. Such donors received a brass ring which reads 'Kofer Hayishuv'. A pin reading 'Jewelry Donation 1938' was proudly worn. Ring donors received this receipt. It acknowledges donation of a gold wedding ring by Shimon Uziel of Tel Aviv on 22 Nov. 1938. Reverse rules include ”The recipient will re-ceive a metal ring...” and ”Before selling the ring the donor will have a week to redeem it ...”. Ring diameter 2 cm. Pin 1.5x1.6 cm. Receipt dimensions 10.5x12.5 cm. Receipt in fair/poor condition. Item from the collections of Jacob Yablok - VirtualJewishmuseum.com.
