However starting 1922, Britain required immigrants to either have 1000 pounds in cash, or marketable skills, including agricultural experience. Youth groups created programs called 'Hachshara' - training - to teach farming, etc. The first was in Markhof, Germany in 1922 to which this envelope was sent.
