Detention Camp Mazraa – Cover to Henrietta Szold 1942 - Mailed at Camp Mazra'a 19 August 1942 to Jerusalem and processed there The return address tells us this envelope was sent by Zev Trenski (?) who is interned in Camp Mazra'a. Any mail TO him would have to be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department, where it would be censored and forwarded to him. The stamp is cancelled in Jerusalem because that is where all such mail was processed. The circular cancel reads ”Farm Labour Camp Acre” telling us that the two camps were near each other and the mail went through the Acre system. Interestingly, the envelope is addressed to the famous Henrietta Szold (American born founder of Hadassah). Szold was active in Youth Aliyah in Palestine, helping to rescue thousands of youth from Europe, and the letter is sent to that office.
