Israel War of Independence – 'Second Convoy' to besieged Jerusalem. Registered Cover 16/5/48 - A second convoy of supplies was permitted on June 21st. This envelope bears a fancy Jerusalem cancel dated May 16, the first day of postal service in the new state. Of course none of the Doar Ivri stamps had arrived, and Minhelet Ha'am stamps where used. The envelope sat with many others until taken by the 2nd convoy on June 21 to Tel Aviv. There it was stamped on the back to show when it arrived. 12.5x15 cm. please see scans for self-grading.
