Cover - Jewish Brigade – 1st Battalion, Palestine Regiment - Two wartime envelopes sent by soldiers of the Jewish Brigade, 1st Battalion, Palestine Regiment. The first envelope (9×12 cm, marked O.A.S – On Active Service) was sent by Private Y. Habshush (service no. 39807), Transport Company, 1st Battalion, Jewish Brigade Group, under the British Army of the Rhine (B.A.O.R). Addressed to Malcolm G. Ross, London, England. The second envelope (8×13 cm), on Y.M.C.A stationery, was sent to Givataim, Palestine, by Private Y. Gantz (service no. PAL/38513), H.Q Company (M.T.), 1st Jewish Battalion, Palestine Regiment. Both envelopes were mailed from Europe after World War II, during the Jewish Brigade’s service in the British occupation zone in Germany (B.A.O.R). Documented as part of a collection illustrating correspondence of Jewish Brigade soldiers in Europe and their families in Mandatory Palestine. The Habshush family is noted as a prosperous Yemenite family from Givataim. Good condition. Items from the collections of Jacob Yablok - VirtualJewishmuseum.com.
