Registered Cover – Jewish Brigade, Jerusalem to Cairo, 1945 - Registered cover sent from Jerusalem (July 6, 1945) to Private Josef Pollak Prokop, R.A.S.C./E.F.I., M.E.F., stationed near Cairo, Egypt. The envelope bears Mandate Palestine stamps (5 mils + three 10 mils) and a Jerusalem Registered Label No. 2485. Reverse shows sender’s address: B. Thalheim, 10 Keren Kajemeth St., Jerusalem – Palestine and backstamps dated 7 July 1945. Accompanied by a typed letter (dated 3 July 1945) from Barbara Thalheim in German, addressed to Biedermann, Jerusalem, detailing the shipment of two boxes containing Private Pollak’s personal effects. A fine and historically significant Jewish Brigade postal item, reflecting communication between Jerusalem and British military personnel in Egypt at the close of WWII.
