Postcard – Arab Palestinian Soldier in German Captivity, Stalag III-D, Jewish Brigade, 1941 - Official Red Cross prisoner-of-war postcard sent by Arab-Palestinian soldier Yacoub Eid (يعقوب عيد), who served in the British Army during World War II and was captured by the Germans. Eid was one of about 1,200 Arab Palestinians who fought alongside the British within units associated with the Jewish Brigade. The card was sent from Stalag III-D, a German POW camp near Berlin, dated 28 April 1941, and bears the Red Cross Geneva arrival stamp of 25 September 1941. Written in his own hand, Eid lists his birthplace (Alma El Shaeb), address (“Syria Palestine”), and declares: “I am well – Unwounded.” A rare and poignant historical document illustrating the service of Arab soldiers from Palestine and Lebanon who fought with the British during the Second World War.
