Jewish Brigade – POW postal card Jewish Soldier P.O.W. in Italy 1943 - Official Italian POW postal card (Poste Italiane – Cartolina Postale per Prigionieri di Guerra), dated 2 June 1943, sent by Private Arnold Fastmann, a Jewish soldier of the Palestine Regiment, held in Camp 65 (Gravina / Altamura) near Bari, southern Italy. Addressed to his brother Siegbert Fastmann, P.O.B. 1073, Haifa, Palestine. The card bears multiple Italian and Allied censorship marks and a Red Cross seal in red. Sent via the International Red Cross, most likely through Egypt, to reach Haifa. On the reverse, a short and touching handwritten message in German reads: Full translation: Dear Siegbert, How are you? I’m fine, thank God. Why don’t you write to me? And why don’t you send me a picture of yourself? It’s been years since I last saw you.
