Jewish Brigade – Postcard from Italy to Wife in the Suez Canal Area, April 1945 - Original postcard dated April 26, 1945, sent by J. Seltzer, a soldier of the Jewish Brigade stationed in Italy, to his wife T. Seltzer, serving with the Auxiliary Territorial Service (A.T.S.), 504 Company, in the Suez Canal area. Written in Hebrew and bearing British Field Post Office and military censor markings (BASE CENSOR). The front shows a panoramic view of Riccione – Panorama, a coastal town on the Adriatic Sea where the sender was stationed. In his message, the soldier writes casually to his wife: “Not much new with me... I got some new underwear...” A touching and rare wartime correspondence between a Jewish Brigade soldier in Italy and his wife serving in Egypt — both part of the British Army during WWII.
