J. Lifshiz, Jewish Chaplain (later Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Brigade and Member of Israel’s First Knesset under the name Jacob Gil). Addressed to Dr. A. Mayer, 8 Alharizi Street, Jerusalem, Palestine. Manuscript address and sender in black ink, faint military censor mark, no postage stamp as per On Active Service regulation. Approx. size: 9×14 cm. Very good condition for age, minor folds and opening traces. A rare and historically significant postal item connected to the Jewish Brigade’s chaplaincy during WWII and the correspondence of Palestinian Jewish soldiers in service abroad.
