Holocaust and She’erit Ha-Pletah – Large Archive of Letters, Hungary–Eretz-Israel, 1939–1948 - A folder containing hundreds of letters and postcards sent from Hungary to Eretz-Israel, most of them during World War II. The folder is inscribed (in Hebrew): ”These are the letters of my late mother and documents from Avar (?) from the period of the Second World War and the early years of the State. The letters are in Hungarian and express longing and concern for me and later for Chava my late sister. Yeshayahu Shafir.” Note: The folder does not contain documents—only letters and postcards. Stamps were cut off from approximately half of the postcards and envelopes. Included as well: four photocopied English-language pages containing the curriculum vitae of Yeshayahu Shafir. Hungarian material. Hundreds of items, various sizes and conditions; overall very good condition.
