Ancient Silver Coin – Netherlands, Holland – ½ Lion Daalder, 17th Century - Large silver coin of the Dutch Republic, Holland issue, struck during the period 1606–1700. One side depicts the standing Dutch lion, emblem of the Republic. The reverse shows a heraldic composition with shield, helmet, and surrounding ornamental elements typical of the period. Hand-struck, with an irregular flan, circulation wear, and natural toning. The date is normally part of the peripheral inscription; however, on this example the date is worn and cannot be identified.
