Five Hundred Mils Banknote – 500 Mils | The Anglo-Palestine Bank Limited | 1948 - ورقة نقدية من فئة خمسمائة مِل – 500 مِل | بنك أنجلو فلسطين  Tel Aviv, 1948 Five Hundred Mils banknote, denomination 500 mils, issued by The Anglo-Palestine Bank Limited, Tel Aviv, in 1948. The banknote served as a temporary means of payment during the transitional period following the establishment of the State of Israel, prior to the introduction of a permanent national currency. The banknote is printed in three languages: Hebrew, English, and Arabic. The obverse features central Hebrew inscriptions with the 500 mils denomination within an ornamental frame, while the reverse displays a symmetrical ornamental design with Arabic and English inscriptions. Printed by the American Bank Note Company, New York. Signatures: S. Hoofien and A. Barth. Series: A | Serial number: A 504081. Based on the existing scans and a recent physical examination: Thick, firm, and robust paper with full body and very good structural integrity. A single fold only, extremely light, located between the center of the note and the left side, approximately midway between them. The fold is soft and not sharp, with no paper break and no impact on the body of the note. No additional folds, secondary creases, or sharp bends are visible. Full and relatively well-balanced margins. Top right corner shows very slight softness with a gentle rounding at the tip, with no sharp fold, no paper loss, and no abnormal signs of handling. Uniform color tonality. Light age toning and subtle time-related spots, consistent with the period. No tears, holes, reinforcements, or visible repairs. Final condition grade (conservative): EF+ (Extremely Fine Plus).
