Minhelet Ha’am – Tel Aviv - Two Covers with KKL Stamps, Sent to Afula, Transitional Period Prior to Statehood (1948) - Pair of printed envelopes marked EDGAR HOROVITZ, P.O.B. 1145, TEL-AVIV (Palestine), bearing BY AIR MAIL / PAR AVION etiquette, addressed in manuscript to Afula. The franking consists of Jewish National Fund (KKL) stamps from the landscape and settlement series (values 2, 5, 10, 25 and others), including Herzl portrait and agricultural and urban scenes. The stamps are cancelled with circular “Tel Aviv” postmarks from the transitional period prior to the Declaration of Independence. Mail from the Minhelet Ha’am period, during the interim between the end of the British Mandate and the establishment of the State of Israel — a time when KKL stamps were used in practice for postal purposes. General condition good for the period: signs of age, light toning, and sealed flaps on reverse. Two authentic transitional period covers with KKL franking, Tel Aviv to Afula.
