Ottoman Empire – Foreign Post Offices – Eretz Israel, Jerusalem – Lot of 8 Photographs (Reproductions) - A lot of 8 reproduction photographs documenting the activity of foreign post offices operating in Jerusalem during the Ottoman Empire period, במסגרת the “Capitulations, ” until the withdrawal of postal privileges with the outbreak of World War I (1914). The photographs depict, among others: • A mail carriage on the Jaffa–Jerusalem route (Postkarriol Jaffa-Jerusalem). • The German Post Office in Jerusalem (Deutsche Post) and its staff. • The French Post Office (Poste Française). • The Austrian Post Office (Poste Autrichienne). • The Italian Post Office (Posta Italiana). • The Russian Post Office. • The Turkish Post Office. Two of the photographs bear printed captions in German or French; on the reverse of several, later pencil inscriptions in English indicate the location of the branches. Size: Largest approx. 10 × 12 cm. Smallest approx. 8 × 10 cm. Overall good condition. Minor signs of age, light staining and toning on the reverse.
