The card was mailed on 8 September 1904 through the French Post Office in Jerusalem, part of the network of foreign postal offices operating in the Ottoman Empire. On the address side appears a French Levant stamp tied by a clear circular postmark: JERUSALEM – PALESTINE – POSTE FRANÇAISE, dated 8 SEPT 1904. Addressed to: Rev. Monsieur R. Notebaert, Cuerne (Kuurne) near Courtrai, Belgium. The reverse features a photographic view of Jerusalem – Mount of Olives, with printed caption in French, English and German. Publisher imprint: Albina et Nicodème, Jérusalem. Handwritten greeting dated Jerusalem, 8 Sept. 1904. A classic postal item from the period of the foreign post offices in Ottoman Palestine, sent via the French post office in Jerusalem, one of the European postal services operating in the city until World War I.
