The card is franked with an Austrian Levant stamp 10 Heller overprinted 20 Para. Clear dispatch postmark Österreichische Post – Jerusalem, with arrival postmark JAFFA – Österreichische Post, dated 15 Nov 1901. Addressed to: Mademoiselle Elisabeth Pascal Austrian Consulate, Jaffa The reverse shows a photograph of the Johanniter Hospiz in Jerusalem, one of the notable German institutions in the city during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A long handwritten message in French appears alongside the image. A representative postal history item from the foreign post offices operating in Ottoman Palestine, particularly the Austrian postal service active in Jerusalem and Jaffa under the Capitulations system.
