Italian Post Office in Jerusalem – Italy Offices in Turkey – Gerusalemme 10 Para - Decorative philatelic exhibition page from a thematic collection titled Israel Postal Issues, presenting the activity of the Italian post office in Jerusalem during the Ottoman Empire period as part of the foreign post offices operating in the Holy Land. At the center is a stamp of the Italian Levant issues with the “Gerusalemme” overprint, denomination 10 Para, used by the Italian post office in Jerusalem. Catalogued as Scott #1 (Or catalogue #325). The historical text explains that Italy opened its Turkish post offices in 1908, the last European power to do so. The Jerusalem office closed temporarily during the Balkan War (1911–1912) and permanently in 1914, together with the other foreign post offices at the outbreak of World War I. The page features an ornate decorative border with Zionist and Jewish motifs including a Star of David, menorah, and scenes of modern Tel Aviv and the Hebrew University.
