Jerusalem – Western Wall – Postcard Mailed via the Italian Post Office in Jerusalem to Vienna, 20 May 1914 - Color photographic postcard depicting the Western Wall in Jerusalem (Klagemauer – The Wall of Lamentation – Mur des pleures), showing Jewish worshippers praying along the stones of the Wall in the Old City. At the lower right corner appears a stamp of the Italian Post Offices in Turkey, overprinted Gerusalemme 10 Para, cancelled by a Gerusalemme Poste Italiane postmark. The postcard was mailed through the Italian post office in Jerusalem on 20 May 1914, only months before the outbreak of World War I and the closure of the foreign post offices in the Ottoman Empire. Addressed to Vienna, Austria, with postal markings on the reverse including a Controlstelle Wien handstamp indicating postal handling in Vienna.
