Mailed from Jerusalem in 1915, during World War I, to Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A. The card bears the standard printed inscription: Union Postale Universelle – Empire Ottoman – Carte Postale, typical of Ottoman postal stationery of the period. Philatelic and historical features: Clear Jerusalem postmark on the printed indicium. Large circular military censor marking from the World War I period. Additional institutional receiving cachet (applied upside down). Addressed to Very Rev. P. Eugenio Buttiniannum, Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A. Message on the reverse written in German, dated January 1915, referring to Jerusalem and the St. Sepulchre. An interesting example of mail sent from Jerusalem during wartime conditions when postal correspondence was subject to military censorship. Condition: Good overall condition.
