British Mandate – Palestine, Registered Cover from Haifa to New York, 13 May 1946 - Registered cover mailed from Haifa to the United States on 13 May 1946, franked with two British Mandate stamps: 20 mil – Tower of David, Jerusalem and 15 mil – Dome of the Rock. The stamps are tied by REGISTERED HAIFA postal cancellation. On the front appears the blue registration label R – HAIFA No. 9659 and the address to: Paul Fuchs, Colonial Hotel, 51 West 81 Street, New York (N.Y.), U.S.A. The reverse bears several transit and arrival markings: • Haifa Registered postmark – 13 May 1946 • Transit marking Bar Harbor, Maine – 15 May 1946 • Arrival marking New York Registry Division – 6 Jun 1946 as well as an additional New York – Jun 18 1946 marking indicating further postal handling after arrival. The envelope was opened at the top. Overall good condition with typical postal usage marks. An interesting postal history item of registered mail from Mandate Palestine to the United States, with multiple transit and arrival postmarks.
