These stamps were overprinted “Doar” and issued for temporary postal use in besieged Jerusalem. The page includes two issues: Issue I – May 9, 1948 • 5 mils • 10 mils • 25 mils Issue II – May 10, 1948 • 5 mils – used with cancellation • 5 mils – mint • 10 mils – mint • 25 mils – mint with margin Mounted on an illustrated exhibition page decorated with Israeli national symbols, the menorah, Star of David, and views of Tel Aviv and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Overall very good condition; most stamps mint, one used example with postmark. Album page with filing holes. An attractive display item documenting the dramatic transitional postal history of Jerusalem during the final days of the Mandate and the establishment of the State of Israel.
