War of Independence – Postcard from Masuot Yitzhak to Tel Aviv, 25 December 1947 - Postcard mailed from Masuot Yitzhak to Tel Aviv on 25 December 1947, several months before the fall of the Gush Etzion bloc in May 1948. The card bears a 7 mil Palestine Mandate stamp, tied by a Masuot Yitzhak postmark. Addressed to: Z. Druba, 21 Har Koveish Street, Tel Aviv. The reverse contains a handwritten Hebrew message dated 25/12/47. The writer informs his parents that the letter might not be sent immediately because the mail convoy is currently in Kfar Etzion, where he has come to meet it. He reports that he is in good health, that everything is proceeding as usual, and sends regards to the family. At that time Gush Etzion was isolated and under constant threat, and mail was often transported in armored convoys due to attacks on the roads. Only a few months later, in May 1948, the area was captured by the Arab Legion, and the residents of the kibbutzim were taken prisoner. A historical postal item from the early months of the War of Independence, reflecting daily life and family communication from the settlements of Gush Etzion shortly before the battles.
