Play Equipment in a Kibbutz Courtyard, 1978 – Illustrated guide to the planning of playground structures in kibbutzim - A scarce Hebrew instructional booklet/manual dealing with the planning, design and construction of playground equipment for the kibbutz courtyard, edited by Aryeh Ben Gurion and Yonatan Shila, with drawings by Yonatan Shila. Published in Tel Aviv for the early childhood and kindergarten sections of the Inter Kibbutz Education Committee, in cooperation with the planning department of HaIhud HaMeuhad. The publication comprises approximately 100 pages, mostly illustrations, photographs, drawings and plans of playground structures, climbing units, courtyard elements, toys and children’s play installations, in a functional style characteristic of 1970s kibbutz culture. It is a clear visual and documentary record of educational, environmental and design concepts in the Israeli kibbutz. The wrapper title bears the year 5738, while the bibliographic attribution dates the publication to 1978. The item was produced by stencil/duplicating machine and issued in a relatively large format. Condition good to fair overall: original wrapper with wear, stains, rubbing and creasing; signs of age and use; inner pages generally in good condition with light to moderate age and handling wear.
