36 Photos – Palestine Police and IDF, 1930s–1950s - A varied and impressive group of 36 original photographs documenting security service in Eretz Israel during the British Mandate period and the early years of the IDF, now including two large-scale personal collage works relating to the same individual. The group includes: • 4 postcard-size photographs – including two wedding photographs, a large group funeral scene, and a photograph of a policeman ליד כלי נגינה תלוי על הקיר (beside a musical instrument mounted on a wall). • 30 original photographs measuring approx. 6×9 cm – broad documentation of British Mandate police personnel and early IDF fighters: shooting and field training, guard posts, drills, unit groups, individual portraits, military and police vehicles, as well as camp buildings and barracks. • 2 large photographic collages (approx. 30×30 cm and 28×28 cm) – composite works incorporating multiple photographs of the same individual, some hand-colored, with colorful Hebrew captions. General condition: very good. The smaller photographs show light age wear, minor creasing and edge wear. The collages are in good condition with typical paper wear, signs of age, and slight fading of the hand coloring.
