Herzliya Gymnasium – Collection of 28 Music and Song Sheets – “Beit HaTalmid”, circa 1940s - “The Hebrew Gymnasium Herzliya – Beit HaTalmid”. A collection of 28 printed music and song booklets/sheets with musical notation, edited by Hadassah Sherman. The issues are numbered 1–35, with one additional unnumbered sheet present, therefore the set is incomplete. Each issue consists of 4 pages, printed in Hebrew with musical notation and songs from the Hebrew, pioneering and folk repertoire of the Yishuv period. Among the songs and themes represented are folk songs, holiday songs, work songs, homeland songs and children’s songs, some arranged for musical study and communal singing במסגרת the “Beit HaTalmid” educational framework of Herzliya Gymnasium in Tel Aviv. Undated, apparently from the 1940s, prior to the establishment of the State of Israel. General condition: fair. Evident signs of use and study; stains, folds, tears, edge wear and filing holes. Some sheets are detached or with significant tears and paper losses. Despite the condition, this is a characteristic and evocative group of early Hebrew educational and musical material from the Yishuv period in Eretz Israel.
