British Palestine (Eretz Israel) 20 Mils Coins, 1942 – Pair of Bronze Wartime Issues - Pair of 20 Mils coins issued in British Palestine (Eretz Israel) during the British Mandate period, dated 1942. During the Second World War, the regular copper-nickel composition was temporarily replaced with bronze so that nickel could be redirected toward the war effort. These wartime bronze issues differ from the standard 1927–1941 issues and are considered a distinctive subtype. The obverse features the inscriptions PALESTINE in English, Hebrew and Arabic surrounding a wreath and the characteristic central hole design of the Palestine mil coinage series. The reverse displays the denomination “20 MILS” in the three official languages.
