The photographs show both sides of the notes. The notes feature Russian and Ukrainian inscriptions, Soviet and Ukrainian symbols, caricatures, political satire, parody currency motifs and humorous anti Soviet themes. Included are examples such as: “Funny Rubles” “Fake Sovereign” “US$R” parody revolutionary and propaganda styled notes Lenin caricatures, Soviet emblems, Ukrainian trident symbols and more. These are not official banknotes, but fantasy exonumia pieces produced as satirical art, souvenirs or political commentary items during the turbulent economic and political climate of the 1990s.
