Thailand – Group of 6 Banknotes, Rama VIII & Rama IX Period, 1940s - A group of six Thai banknotes from the World War II era and the early modern Kingdom of Thailand period, featuring portraits of King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) together with a later issue from the early reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). Included in the lot: • Two 50 Satang banknotes, Series 5, dated 1942–1944. • Two 1 Baht banknotes, Series 7, dated 1945–1946, one with noticeably stronger and darker print quality. • One additional 1 Baht banknote from the Rama VIII period, 1942–1944, different type. • One 50 Satang banknote, Series 9, from the early Rama IX period. The notes feature classic Thai designs with temples, palace views and royal emblems, some printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company, London. Several of the wartime 1 Baht notes were printed on locally produced paper from the Kanchanaburi Paper Mill. Condition: circulated condition with folds, creases, stains, wear and handling marks throughout, including heavier wear on some notes. One of the 1 Baht notes retains comparatively stronger colors.
