Communist Yiddish Press in Palestine – Collection of 10 Jerusalem Issues, 1925 - A rare collection of ten Yiddish newspapers published in Jerusalem in 1925 by the Communist movement in Palestine. Although essentially the same publication, the newspaper appeared under a variety of titles, including Der Veker (The Awakener), Di Frayhayt (Freedom), Klassen Kampf (Class Struggle), Dos Naye Vort (The New Word), Der Kamfer (The Fighter), Der November, and others. The frequent title changes were intended to circumvent legal restrictions and censorship imposed on Communist publications during the British Mandate period. The issues document the early activity of the Communist movement in Palestine and its efforts to reach the Yiddish speaking Jewish working class through political journalism, ideological essays, party news, and social commentary. Most issues are dated between June and November 1925, printed in Jerusalem in large newspaper format, approximately eight pages per issue. Several titles are represented by only a single surviving issue, illustrating the constant struggle of the publishers against official suppression. 10 issues. Approx. 34 × 24 cm. Overall good to very good condition for ephemeral newspapers of the period, with folds, age toning, minor edge wear, occasional tears, and light paper browning.
