Official Israeli Silver Medal – Twin Towers September 11 Memorial | Israel 2001 | Sterling Silver 925 | 62 g - Official state memorial medal issued by the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation in 2001 (5762), commemorating the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and expressing the solidarity of the citizens of Israel with the people of New York and the United States. The medal symbolizes remembrance, freedom, democracy, and the shared values between Israel and the United States. Obverse: Depicts the famous Manhattan skyline, with the city buildings raised in relief while the Twin Towers appear recessed into the surface of the medal, symbolizing their absence after the attack. Above the skyline appears the date 9.11.2001 (American date format). Below is the inscription “UNITED IN DEMOCRACY”, with the letters U and D intertwined as a symbol of unity. Along the edge appears the inscription “Forever Remembered” and a row of 18 flowers (“Chai” – life), symbolizing renewal and the triumph of life. Reverse: Features the hand of the Statue of Liberty holding the torch. Around the edge appears the closing phrase from the speech of U.S. President George W. Bush: “PEACE AND FREEDOM WILL PREVAIL” The edge bears the State of Israel emblem, the inscriptions “מדינת ישראל” and “STATE OF ISRAEL”, the metal content, and an individual serial number.
