Israel 50 – Four Official State Bronze Medals Commemorating Israel’s Jubilee, 1997 – Two Original Cases - A lot comprising four official “Israel 50” State Medals, issued by the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the State of Israel. The bronze medals are housed in two original presentation cases, each containing one large and one small medal. Obverse: a graphic rendering of the number 50 formed by two interlocking circles. The closed circle represents Israel’s first fifty years, while the open circle symbolizes hope and anticipation for the following fifty years. The State Emblem appears in the center, accompanied by the dates “1948–1998” and the inscription “A JUBILEE FOR YOU”. Reverse: a composition of Israeli national symbols, including a stylized menorah, the Knesset building, the Western Wall, the Israel Defense Forces emblem, an ancient Torah scroll, technological achievements and a dove of peace. Inscribed in Hebrew: “It shall be a jubilee unto you” (Leviticus 25:10). The lot includes: 2 large bronze medals: 70 mm diameter, catalogued weight 140 g each. 2 small bronze medals: 38.5 mm diameter, catalogued weight 28 g each. Two original velvet-lined presentation cases. Two original certificates and the issue booklet. Designer: Reuven Nutels. Dies: Tidhar Dagan. Minted by: Government Printer, Jerusalem. Year of issue: 1997. The cases were originally designed to accommodate additional precious-metal versions; the silver and gold medals are not included. This lot contains the four bronze medals only.
