Large Chinese Painting on Silk, Bearing a Signature and Seal Attributed to Qi Baishi - A colorful Chinese painting on silk depicting four elegantly dressed court ladies gathered around a table playing Go in a garden. The scene is set beneath a flowering tree, with a traditional Chinese pavilion, tiled roofs and willow trees in the background. Finely executed in the meticulous gongbi style, using delicate outlines and soft pastel colors. The upper left bears a calligraphic inscription and a red seal, apparently reading: 戊辰年秋月 白石筆 — “Painted by Baishi in the autumn month of the Wuchen year.” The seal appears to bear the name 齊白石. The corresponding Wuchen year during Qi Baishi’s lifetime was 1928. However, the signature and seal have not been authenticated, and the work is offered as bearing an attribution to the artist rather than as an authenticated work by him. Dimensions: 93 × 57 cm.
