Egyptian Pendant Medal – Sinai, Land of Victory – 1950s–1960s - An Egyptian pendant medal made of bronze-tone metal with colored details. The obverse bears the Arabic inscription سيناء أرض النصر, meaning “Sinai, Land of Victory.” The central design depicts an oil derrick rising from a cogwheel, accompanied by a fish and plant branches. Together, these symbols represent Sinai’s resources and regional development: industry, petroleum production and fishing. The reverse bears the calligraphic Arabic inscription: تحية وتقديراً وعرفاناً – “With greetings, appreciation and gratitude.” The medal was most likely produced in the atmosphere of Egyptian national commemoration following the 1956 Suez Crisis and Sinai War, presented in Egypt as a political and national victory. An Egyptian source referring to a medal bearing this inscription states that examples were found in the office of the Governor of Sinai after the area was captured in 1967. A likely date is therefore the late 1950s–1960s. Diameter: approx. 30 mm, excluding suspension loop. Good condition, with patina, wear, scratches and losses to the colored details.
