Commemorative Medal – 120 Years of the Bolshaya Bronnaya Synagogue, Moscow – Hanukkah, 1883–2003 - A Russian Jewish commemorative medal issued to mark the 120th anniversary of the synagogue on Bolshaya Bronnaya Street in Moscow. The obverse bears the Russian inscription ХАНУКА (“Hanukkah”), together with a depiction of the reconstructed synagogue building, a menorah, flames and the anniversary dates 1883–2003. The reverse bears the Russian inscription Синагога на Большой Бронной (“Synagogue on Bolshaya Bronnaya”), four stylized fish and the Hebrew biblical blessing “May the Lord bless you and protect you.” Hebrew dates appear below, together with the number 120. The fish are a traditional Jewish motif associated with blessing, abundance and fertility. Diameter: 50 mm. Please examine the photographs for an impression of the item’s condition.
