Coin 25 Mils, 1948 – First Coin Issued by the State of Israel – Aluminium - A 25 Mils coin dated 5708–1948, recognized as the first coin issued by the State of Israel. Its design was inspired by a coin from the Bar Kokhba Revolt period, and it entered circulation in 1949. Obverse: denomination “25 Mils” in Hebrew and Arabic, Hebrew year 5708, surrounded by olive branches. Reverse: a cluster of grapes, “Israel” in Hebrew and Arabic, surrounded by a dotted border. Composition: aluminium 97%, magnesium 3% Standard weight: 3.8 g Diameter: 30 mm Circulated condition, showing wear, scratches, handling marks and minor edge knocks.
