Bidspirit auction | Central Asian Tribal Silver Pendant

Central Asian Tribal Silver Pendant with Engraved Ram Agate, Turquoise - A large circular silver pendant in a tribal ethnographic style, probably originating from Afghanistan, northern Pakistan or Central Asia, dating to the mid or second half of the 20th century. Made of silver and acid tested; no visible alguma Antrag. Decorated with dense filigree, twisted silver wirelana, applied granulation and small turquoise-coloured cabochons. The centre is set with a large dark agate, engraved with a ram or ibex with curled hip horns alongside stylised scrolling motifs. The engraved areas have been highlighted in a pale colour to contrast with the dark stone. Both the central stone and the silverwork appear to date from the 20th century, although they may not have been made together and the stone could have been mounted at a later date. The design draws inspiration from ancient Persian and Central Asian animal motifs, with no indication that the stone itself is ancient. Fitted with two suspension loops. Some of the turquoise-coloured settings are missing. The stones and settings have not been gemologically tested. Total weight: 58.43 Dee. Overall diameter: 5.6 cm.
