Central Asian Uzbek-Tajik Style Ethnic Necklace with Silver-Plated Gilded Amulet Pendant – 20th Century - An ethnic necklace from Central Asia, probably Uzbekistan or Tajikistan, dating approximately from the second half of the 20th century. Composed of several strands of yellow, black, pink, blue, and brown beads made of various untested materials. The necklace is centered by a large metal amulet pendant, silver-plated and partially gilded. It is decorated with repoussé, stamped, and simulated granulated details and set with a turquoise-colored stone displaying dark veining. It is not possible to determine from the photographs whether the inset is natural turquoise, reconstructed turquoise, or a turquoise imitation. Decorative beaded strands are suspended from the lower edge. The clasp and the necklace’s metal components are not silver. Wear, patina, and rubbing to the plating consistent with age and use. The necklace may have been restrung or adapted at a later date. Total length: 30 cm. Pendant width: 6 cm. Please examine the photographs for condition.
