Sterling Silver Mesh Evening Purse with Hand Mirror – Birmingham, 1919 - An antique English evening purse fashioned from sterling silver mesh, with a shaped silver frame, ball clasp and carrying chain. The cream-coloured fabric-lined interior contains a small hand mirror attached by a cord. The frame bears English silver hallmarks: Birmingham anchor, passant lion for sterling silver and date letter u, apparently corresponding to 1919. The maker’s mark is worn and cannot be identified with certainty. Purse dimensions excluding chain: 17×12 cm. Total weight: 159 g.
