English Sterling Silver Cigarette Case – Birmingham, 1944 - A rectangular sterling silver cigarette case with rounded corners and a plain polished exterior, decorated with an engraved stylised monogram. The gilt interior retains its original elastic cigarette straps. Hallmarked with the Birmingham anchor, lion passant for sterling silver, date letter U for 1944, and the sponsor’s or maker’s mark A&M, whose identity has not been conclusively established. Dimensions: 7.5 × 6.5 cm. Total weight: 76.8 g. Used condition, with scratches, tarnishing, staining, minor dents and wear along the edges. The interior gilding is worn and discoloured, and the elastic straps are worn and frayed. Opening and closing mechanism is present. Please examine the photographs for condition.
