17 Early Telephone Tokens – Israel, circa 1950s–1960 – Copper - A group of 17 early Israeli public telephone tokens, of the type introduced in Israel in 1953. Made of copper, with a central hole. One side depicts an old telephone dial; the other bears the inscriptions “טלפון” and “TELEPHONE”, alongside the issue year in Hebrew letters. Some tokens bear the numeral 8, presumably indicating the call charge in agorot following the transition from prutot to agorot in 1960. Used condition, with varying degrees of wear, contact marks, scratches, spots and natural brownish copper patina. Colour and preservation vary between the tokens. Please examine the photographs for condition and your own grading.
