Solid silver Minaudière handbag, circa 1940 Rectangular luxury minaudière finely decorated on the front with an intricate openwork panel depicting birds amidst flowering branches, embellished with cabochon-cut rubies and sapphires. Upon opening, it reveals two mirrors (one damaged), a powder compartment, two lipstick holders, a cigarette compartment and a match compartment. Signed Boucheron Paris, numbered, with French silver hallmarks. Approx. dimensions: 13 x 8.5 x 2 cm. Gross weight: approx. 499.90 g. Accompanied by original fitted case. Bearing French silver marks; the openwork panel stamped “or argent” indicating gilt silver. Signed Boucheron Paris, numbered BT Nº 875012 and 82615. The sapphires exhibit a medium-blue hue; the rubies present a reddish-purple tone. Both gemstone types are translucent with typical inclusions visible under magnification, alongside minor surface scratches. The minaudière shows light wear, faint scratches and slight oxidation consistent with age and use. The mirror presents defects and the comb is missing. All hinges remain firm; the box and internal lids close securely, although the central clasp requires adjustment.
