Imperial-Era Japanese Katana – Signed Tang, Original Condition - An original Imperial-era Japanese katana retaining its complete mountings and untouched condition. The sword features a traditional tsuka (handle) wrapped in ray skin with silk cord binding, adorned with gilt floral menuki and a finely detailed brass and iron tsuba. The habaki is engraved with a depiction of a tiger among bamboo.. a traditional motif representing strength and bravery. The tang (nakago) is signed, indicating a traditionally forged example crafted by hand rather than a mass-produced blade. The blade remains in unpolished, original condition, showing natural age patina and oxidation consistent with its age. It is housed in its lacquered wooden saya (scabbard) with metal fittings and suspension ring, all retaining their authentic period finish.
