Celine Paris Large Cotton Handkerchief in Split Chain and Carriage Pattern - Celine Paris large cotton handkerchief, manufactured by Kawabe Co., Ltd., late 20th century. The piece features a diagonal split design with a chocolate brown half printed with gold-tone chains and sunburst medallions and a grey half with a woven tonal pattern and white floral scrollwork border. It is finished with an embroidered horse-and-carriage logo and is accompanied by its original labels and black presentation box. 58 cm x 58 cm. Celine was founded in Paris in 1945 and operated as a leather goods and accessories house before adding ready-to-wear. The vintage Celine Paris label, used prior to the house's creative direction changes in the 2010s, appears on many handkerchiefs, scarves, and small leather goods from the 1970s through the 1990s. Original packaging from Celine is retained with this lot, which is the preferred configuration for collectors and is increasingly difficult to find with pieces of this age.
