Bidspirit auction | Hermes Poste et Cavalerie Silk

Hermes Poste et Cavalerie Silk Carre 90 Scarf - Hermes silk twill scarf in the ”Poste et Cavalerie” pattern designed by Philippe Ledoux, first issued in 1960. The navy blue ground features a central arrangement of military shabracks and tassels in gold, blue, and crimson, framed by epaulettes and a continuous fringe border. The piece is constructed with signature hand-rolled hems and includes the original orange presentation box. Printed markings include ”HERMES-PARIS” along the lower border and ”Poste et Cavalerie” in gold script above the central motif. Measurements: Approximately 35 x 35 inches. Hermes has produced silk scarves since 1937. Each design is created by a commissioned artist and the production process from concept to finished silk typically takes around 18 months. The scarves are hand-rolled and printed at the Hermes atelier in Lyon, France. Original packaging from Hermes is retained with this lot, which is the preferred configuration for collectors and is increasingly difficult to find with pieces of this age.
