Bidspirit auction | Christian Dior Knit Wool Oblique

Christian Dior Knit Wool Oblique Monogram Scarf - A Christian Dior knit scarf featuring the signature Oblique monogram in a repeating diamond-star grid. This reversible accessory is crafted from 100% wool and was made in Italy. The design presents a black base with a cream pattern on one side, mirrored by a cream base with a black pattern on the alternate side. The garment retains its original designer and material composition labels. Approximately 75 inches in length.  The Oblique monogram is one of Christian Dior's oldest and most architecturally interesting house codes, predating many of the logos now associated with French luxury. A knit wool scarf in Oblique is both practically useful and historically significant - the texture of knit makes the logo recede into craft rather than advertisement, which is exactly the kind of understated flex that the fashion-aware appreciate. Dior Oblique pieces in wool are less commonly found than the canvas or silk versions and carry a quiet authority. Christian Dior has produced silk scarves since the house's earliest years, and archive designs featuring the house's signature houndstooth, oblique, and couture-inspired motifs are now collected separately from the house's main accessories. Earlier silk weights were heavier than current production.
